Actually all modern virtual hosts should be
created as name based virtual hosts because of
IP address shortage.
What you should do is create another entry in the
SerfverAlias section of your apache conf file that
has another name not under php.net. Something like
php.brainpeddlers.com should do it.
By doing this, the content would be availiable
even if the whole php.net domain were down. Besides
a very useful feature of assigning it a name on
your domain is that you can always move to another
IP address it without depending on the PHP folks to
do it.

It shows a 'This domain is hosted by Brainpaddlers' message and no more... This should show a PHP mirror page for this to work AFAIK.It doesn't have to :) The Apache server on that machine is handlet to display the php mirror pages on requests on www.no2.php.net and no2.php.net. If another hostname is requested, it displays the corresponding webpages, or the default page (the one on freebase.brainpeddlers.com). The mirror page -will- show up correctly as soon as the DNS pointers point to that IP-address :) AFAIK this is not the case for other PHP mirrors. Eg. the Hungarian mirror will show up as hu.php.net or phpnet.externet.hu, and other mirrors work the same. I changed the data in the mirror listings, though I have no access to the DNS tables, so when Jim Winstead will have the time to udpate it, the DNS will start working. Goba
