configure fails if you have mysql-4.1.12 installed and you try
./configure --with-mysql
You may get a misleading error like
...
..
checking for mysql_close in -lmysqlclient... no
checking for mysql_errno in -lmysqlclient... no
configure: error: Try adding --with-zlib-dir=<DIR>. Please check config.log for more
information.
There is no zlib error the error is because of no libmysqlclient.so
just locate libmysqlclient.so.10 ( or any other ) and soft link it as libmysqlclient.so
For eg.
ln -s /usr/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient.so.10.0.0 /usr/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient.so
Configure should work fine
