I had the same problem with Apache 2.2.0. It crashed and died on Slackware 10.2 and Fedora 4 when it
started to use Lex, which is part of the kernel and has nothing to do with Apache afaik, but when I
moved down to Apache 2.0.52, everything worked fine.
