hey david, I do the same when I want to made a "true" XHTML document.
<?php
header('Content-Type: application/xhtml+xml; charset=ISO-8859-1');
?>
Since the server automatically adds text/html to web documents.
I only use it though when I want to demonstrate why IE doesn't fully support XHTML, even IE7
doesn't.
Most of my pages I keep at text/html for the IE users to enjoy :D
