I used wamp the other day to install a quick devel environment on a laptop. I just needed something
in order to do some real basic php pages (really just includes and switchs) and wamp had me up and
running in literally 5 minutes.
However, if you've never set up an apache/php server you really should do it. Its not difficult
at all and it gives you a bit more insight into things.
