Here is a simple function I compiled from user-notes that works great.. any improvements?

$hostip = @gethostbyname( $host );
$ip = ( $hostip == $host ) ? $host : long2ip( ip2long( $hostip ) );
//echo sprintf("Resolved %s to %s", $host, $ip);
return $ip;
}
