I there any way to use HTTP Basic or Digest WITHOUT the browser (UGLY) dialog box at all?? I.e: <? $_SERVER['PHP_AUTH_USER'] = $_POST['UID']; $_SERVER['PHP_AUTH_PW'] = $_POST['PASS']; ?> so far I've been getting around this with ajax: XMLHttpRequest.open("get", URL, false, username, password); ...which invokes the browser login behind the scenes to grant access to our protected HTTP downloads folder but a pure PHP solution would html&PHP solution would be better. thanks!!!!!!!!!!! ---- Server IP: 69.147.83.197 Probable Submitter: 99.235.86.239 ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/features.http-auth.php Edit -- https://master.php.net/note/edit/95730 Del: integrated -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/95730/integrated Del: useless -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/95730/useless Del: bad code -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/95730/bad+code Del: spam -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/95730/spam Del: non-english -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/95730/non-english Del: in docs -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/95730/in+docs Del: other reasons-- https://master.php.net/note/delete/95730 Reject -- https://master.php.net/note/reject/95730 Search -- https://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
