note 96076 added to function.flush

I've just found that in PHP version > 5.2.9 flush() stopped working for me. I used the following at the end of every PHP page to send the page/flush the buffers and as soon as I upgraded PHP to 5.2.10-5.2.12 all my pages stopped loading at all. function SendResponse() { ob_flush(); flush(); } After isolating a problem it pointed to flush() call. If I comment it out everything starts working. Any thoughts why this happens? The manual clearly says that this sequence is correct. Maybe php.ini settings should be updated?
