The documentation is not really clear for me. Let's take the MD5 algorithm: MD5 hashing with a twelve character salt starting with $1$ 12 characters - 3 characters = 9 characters. Does it count a '$' character at the end of the salt? (like in the example) Must be the '$' character added to the end of the salt? Is it required or extra? For example: What is the correct string I need to generate for a correct salt for MD5: "12345678" "12345678$" "123456789" <- for me that this one which is correct "123456789$" ---- Server IP: 69.147.83.197 Probable Submitter: 82.224.50.233 ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.crypt.php Edit -- https://master.php.net/note/edit/105964 Del: integrated -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/105964/integrated Del: useless -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/105964/useless Del: bad code -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/105964/bad+code Del: spam -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/105964/spam Del: non-english -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/105964/non-english Del: in docs -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/105964/in+docs Del: other reasons-- https://master.php.net/note/delete/105964 Reject -- https://master.php.net/note/reject/105964 Search -- https://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
