It looks like when you're using "php" without arguments (CGI mode) when PHP will see __halt_compiler(); it will instantly end getting data (like when having line with just EOF character (CTRL+D)) and will try to interpret data. So following code when inserted to "php" will make "Hello, world!" appear just after __halt_compiler(); without even asking for stuff after it. <?php echo "Hello, world!"; __halt_compiler(); // at this point, PHP interprets stuff with waiting for rest ?> ---- Server IP: 69.147.83.197 Probable Submitter: 178.36.185.64 ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.halt-compiler.php Edit -- https://master.php.net/note/edit/105994 Del: integrated -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/105994/integrated Del: useless -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/105994/useless Del: bad code -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/105994/bad+code Del: spam -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/105994/spam Del: non-english -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/105994/non-english Del: in docs -- https://master.php.net/note/delete/105994/in+docs Del: other reasons-- https://master.php.net/note/delete/105994 Reject -- https://master.php.net/note/reject/105994 Search -- https://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
