Note Submitter: whydoeseveryonewant at open dot source ---- I am just amazed why people accept to spend hours and hours on installing something trivial such as this PHP web extension. As with ten out of 15 OSS experiences, this PHP installation is taking hours. And it is not because of the quality of the software (which I cannot judge because it doesn't work yet), it is not because of principles, it is because the mentality of OSS developers is still that people should know all the ins and outs of the software, in this case starting with an ini file of 1919 (!!!) lines. If you really want to convince closed source people that OSS is as good or even better than closed source, deliver things that work instantly, like the closed source junk, and let people spend their time using your stuff rather than going into the intestinals of it.
