as of PHP 5.3 i noticed that zend optimizer is obsolete. you will need to install what is now called
zend guard. any libraries encoded with zend optimizer that have not released a "zend
guarded" version of their library will not function as of php 5.3 i found out the hard way.
thought it might save you time.
