Something to be aware of: when dynamically using different database drivers (in my case this was
PostgreSQL and MySQL, I have not tested any others) and persistent connections, the error-mode will
for some reason not always be PDO::ERRMODE_SILENT by default when using the MySQL database driver.
The only way I was able to get a consistent PDO::ERR_MODE between PostgreSQL and MySQL was by either
explicitly setting the error mode, or just disabling persistent connections.
