Note carefully that no matter what it says above, Windows 2000 has been (effectively) desupported in
PHP 5.3. However, 5.2 still seems to work, ignoring the spate of dll messages.
See: http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=48761
It is highly useful to run the php command line executable (php.exe) from a command line (start/run:
cmd.exe) to check whether the compiled php executable will start at all:
cd \php
php -v
This is in preference to wondering why IIS/Apache returns some obscure message about missing
headers.
