I found that using the headers in
the order given in the HTML mail
example did _not_ work properly.
In some instances the e-mail would
be interpreted as plain text and the
From: header would not be recognized.
Before anyone jumps to conclusions,
all changes and tests were made with identical input to the script. The
solution was to put the From: header
_before_ the Content-type: header. I
also discluded the MIME-Version header,
although whether that had anything to
do with the outcome I am unsure of.
The problem was definitely with the From:
header.
For those curious, the server I'm using
is Apache 1.3something running on OBSD
with PHP 4.something. The server uses
a sendmail wrapper, and the POP3 server
that I experienced these header problems
with was Qmail. That is to say, all e-mail
accounts on the Qmail server that is run
by my webhost misinterpreted the headers.
So anyway, take it for what you will.
The headers in the example did work in
all other cases.
Sorry about hard-wrapping the text, the
page seems to be a bit streeeeeeeeetched!
