You should avoid using this function if you can do it in SQL. It is more efficient:
select samplefield1, samplefield2 from sampletable where sampleid > '999' and sampleid
< '1021'
It is generally good programming practice to do whatever you can in SQL or PL/SQL instead of PHP.
