Just a little warning:
If you have a class which uses mysql_pconnect and are creating multiple instances of it, you may get
mysql errors concerning the number of mysql links you have open.
eg. I had a script that used a database interface class - this class used mysql_pconnect. However,
the class appeared to be creating a new link each time it was instantiated, so when I was calling
the script multiple times within another script (I was generating image headers and including images
from a database), then I occasionally received an error about the number of links mysql had open :(
(correct me if I am wrong about this - the link error disappeared when I changed pconnect to
connect).
