I ran txtilde@hotmail.com's benchmark and got similar results, but when I made the slight
modification:
$db = mysql_pconnect($server,$user,$pass);
mysql_select_db($dbname,$db);
and
$db = mysql_connect($server,$user,$pass);
mysql_select_db($dbname,$db);
the results inverted. mysql_connect is now faster (the length of time for both increase, but it
seems to take mysql_pconnect a lot longer to select a db)... someone please inform me if this is
relevant.
