If parse_url() encounters a mangled URL it can't understand (try something starting with
"file:////", it won't fail silently, instead printing a warning- this might not be
what you want.
I do this:
$urlarr = @parse_array($myurl);
if ( ! is_array($urlarr) ) {
echo "not a url";
}
This applies to PHP 4.0.2...
