second try:
Here's my notes about Installing and Sessions. I hope this helps:
INSTALLING php4 to NT and APACHE:
Unpack php-bin and put it somewhere :)
Add following lines to httpd.conf to right places:
ScriptAlias /php/ "c:/php/" <--path to your php directory
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
Action application/x-httpd-php "/php/php.exe"
Copy php.ini to windows directory (rename it first).
Locate following line and put directory where you installed php:
extension_dir = "c:\php"
Start and stop apache.
Make sure yor web server is up and running. (write ip.to.my.machine to browser)
Make test.php and put it same directory where you tested you webserver. (write something to
test.php)
Test PHP (write ip.to.my.machine/test.php to browser)
If browser dont try to download the file and shows inside of test.php.... you made it! :)
Ok now the sessions:
locate the [Session] line and
fix the following lines to php.ini
session.save_path = c:\php\session <--path to your php directory
session.auto_start = 1 (ok. 1 = ok 0 = no i dont want that)
session.use_cookies = 1
And add following line to test.php:
<?
session_start();
session_register();
session_register("count");
$count++;
echo $count;
?>
Yep.. Counter.
Thats it.
These were really the basics. And i hope this helps to get php4 to work.
