This function along with gd2.0 and the function imagecreatetruecolor drastically increases the
quality of images that are resized by php. Before these functions pictures were totally trashed,
now they are just about perfect. Added contast would be the next best thing (you can see examples
at surfshot.com. all images are resized via php)
