libmcrypt-2.3.x has lower versions of mcrypt.h compared to the one in libmcrypt-2.2.6. So, I
couldn't get php4.0b4p11 to compile. Then I went back to libmcrypt-2.2.6. However, I still had
problems with PHP3_MAX_SALT_LENGTH variable being not defined. And this happened because, the
original config.cache didn't get updated after I changed my libmcrypt.so library to the lower
version and as result, the config.cache had 'no' to DES and other algorithms. As a result
the PHP3_MAX_SALT_LENGTH constant is not getting defined. So, I removed the config.cache and reran
the function and everything worked fine!
