note 22686 added to ref.sockets

I get: Fatal error: Call to undefined function: socket_create() when calling $socket = socket_create (AF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, 0); after compiling php like this on a Linux box: ./configure \ --with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql \ --with-xml \ --with-apache=../apache_1.3.24 \ --enable-track-vars \ --with-dom=/usr/local/libxml \ --with-zlib=/usr/local/zlib \ --with-java \ --enable-sockets make make install cp php.ini-dist /usr/local/lib/php.ini Does anyone know what could be wrong?
