Installing PHP 4.2.3 on Apache 2.0.40
well, that's simple, just follow these steps:
get httpd-2.0.40.tar.gz and php-4.2.3.tar.gz
gunzip all at a folder (e.g. /usr/local/src)
Now, type this to configure apache
./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache2 --enable-module=so
now, set up PHP 4.2.3, just type
cd ../php4.2.3
./configure --with-mysql --with-apxs2=/usr/local/apache2/bin/apxs
Then put this on your httpd.conf
<Files *.php>
SetOutputFilter PHP
SetInputFilter PHP
</Files>
Works fine for me using Apache 2.0.40 and Php 4.2.3
