Sorry to be pedantic, but 'webmaster at scoutprovidence dot com' is slightly wrong in
terminology. Deprecated is the term for functions/names/APIs; depreciated is a similar term which
refers to money amounts (eg in accounting, a capital purchase such as a car or building is
depreciated over time, thus spreading the expense).

misc/deprecation/deprecation.html says it as:
Note: "Deprecated" and "depreciated" are not same. "Depreciated" is a
financial term that means "lowered value". Although the meanings are similar, classes and
methods are deprecated, not depreciated.
If you don't like this pedantry, fine; but it's like the it's/its debate - those who
know the correct usage dislike seeing the incorrect.
