Sorry to be pedantic, but 'webmaster at scoutprovidence dot com' is slightly wrong in terminology. Deprecated is the term for functions/names/APIs; depreciated is a similar term which refers to money amounts (eg in accounting, a capital purchase such as a car or building is depreciated over time, thus spreading the expense). http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/docs/guide/ misc/deprecation/deprecation.html says it as: Note: "Deprecated" and "depreciated" are not same. "Depreciated" is a financial term that means "lowered value". Although the meanings are similar, classes and methods are deprecated, not depreciated. If you don't like this pedantry, fine; but it's like the it's/its debate - those who know the correct usage dislike seeing the incorrect.
