Any path used with the filename must be absolute (at least on Windows):
zip_open( "../data/myfile.zip" ); // wrong
zip_open( "W:\\siteroot\\data\\myfile.zip" ); // right
A very little thing, but it had me cursing for an hour or so until I got a clue.
Backslashes must be escaped as well (as usual).
