FYI, Verisign's "wonderful" new SiteFinder initiative, which seeks to capitalize on
misspellings entered into browser location bars, affects this function's ability to determine
the validity of a host. It took me a while to figure out why my e-mail validation routine was
suddenly letting bogus host names through. It's because when given an invalid host name,
gethostbyname() now returns a Verisign IP address instead of the host name itself.
