With regard to adding the line "php_flag register_globals on" to the .htaccess file.
The line you ACTUALLY want to put in your .htaccess file is "php_value register_globals 1"
to turn register_globals "ON" on a per directory basis. To make it more obvious: the
word is "php_value" oppose to "php_flag".
