htmlentities does not convert ascii 255, the y-umlaut character that is part of ISO-8859-1.the
function below will fix this.
function DoHTMLEntities ($string)
{
$trans_tbl = get_html_translation_table (HTML_ENTITIES);
$trans_tbl[chr(255)] = 'ÿ';
return strtr ($string, $trans_tbl);
}
