used the array_merge_clobber($a1,$a2)
function written/submitted above and noticed a small problem which can be avoided by changing this
line:
while (list($key, $val) = each($a2)) {
to this:
foreach ($a2 as $key => $val) {
(It also sped up performance on large arrays)
