Installing on Windows XP Home SP1 using Apache 2.0.44:
Stop Apache.
Extract the latest PHP zip to c:\php. This will create a folder like "php-4.3.0-Win32"
under c:\php. You need to move the contents of this folder up a directory (go to
c:\php\php-4.x.x-Win32 and cut the contents; then go to c:\php and paste). Next, copy the php4ts.dll
file from c:\php to c:\windows\system32. Copy php.ini-dist from c:\php to c:\windows and rename it
to php.ini.
In php.ini, find the text "doc_root" (without the quotes) and make sure it says something
like:
doc_root = "C:\Program Files\Apache Group\Apache2\htdocs"
(Replace C:\Program...\htdocs with the path to your htdocs directory.)
Then, go to your httpd.conf file, and add the lines:
ScriptAlias /php/ "c:/php/"
AddType application/x-httpd-php .php
Action application/x-httpd-php "/php/php.exe"
Restart Apache and you should be set to go.
