As the man page for this function states, calls to setlocale() with a category corresponding to the
category of item, or to the category LC_ALL, may overwrite buffer pointed by the
return value.
In other words, when you want to print "januari" (Dutch) for the first month of the year,
you would do:

setlocale (LC_ALL, 'nl_NL');
echo nl_langinfo(MON_1);
?>
