After installing Apache 2.0.48 (Win32) and PHP 4.3.4 the scripts I wrote using sessions all
didn't run. I always got the error messages
"The session id contains invalid characters, valid characters are only a-z, A-Z and 0-9"
and
"Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of
session.save_path is correct".
Several postings in other forums didn't help me figuring out, why I was not able to even start
a session using session_start() with my installation (the session.save_path was correct!). Then,
eventually, I simply renamed the session.name variable in the php.ini file from the default
"PHPSESSID" to something else (in this case "sess"). You know what? It
worked...! Merry Christmas...
