Note that one should NOT use urldecode for HTTP GET parameters, as these are already decoded on the
fly. Like
urldecode( urlencode( "/lost+found" ) )
yields "/lost+found" as expected, but
urldecode( $HTTP_GET_VARS["dir"] )
yields "/lost found" (thus replacing the + with a space) for
http://...../script.php?dir=%2Flost%2Bfound
