topic that we had months ago here in the PHP.net site, or the warning in the downloads page, or the
information in the documentation that comes with the distribution, or even if you missed this same
change that has been documented in the manual for quite some time. Better have it once more for
those who do not read.]
Newbie's like me should note that register_globals is disabled in the php.ini file as of PHP
4.20. Unless it is enabled, GET and POST data will not be available as $var data in the called
script.
To fix this problem, change the register_globals line in php.ini to read
register_globals = On
I understand that the people who are developing PHP have their reasons for doing this but it seems
like a really newbie-hostile move, since a lot of tutorials on the Web and in books simply
DON'T WORK without register_globals enabled.
