A dot in a POST(|GET?) variable will be converted to underscore! I.e. an input box named
mail.address will be $_POST['mail_address'].
So, if getting your variable names dynamically from somewhere (another variable / database),
don't forget how to do search & replace:
str_replace(".", "_", $varname)
