A super helpful little snippet i use to determine the slash (DIRECTORY SEPERATOR) for an OS is:
strstr(strtoupper(substr(PHP_OS, 0, 3)), "WIN") ? $slash = "\\" : $slash =
"/";
example usage:
opendir($basePath.$slash.$file)
