You should be aware to use this function to select temporarily a database because the selection is
permanent like an exclusive call of mysql_select_db. This is as statet in the description but not
clearly enough. It would be more helpful to have a function which temporarily changes the database.
You should use the appropriate SQL statement "database.tablename" instead this function in
conjunction with mysql_query.
