I received the following error in Internet Explorer when trying to send a powerpoint file:
-----------------------
Internet Explorer cannot download <filename> from <domain>
Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable
or cannot be found. Please try again later.
[OK]
-----------------------
I was NOT using SSL, so it is /not/ the situation described at the following URL:
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q316/4/31.asp
Solution:
Set the session.cache_limiter to an empty string and output the headers it puts out manually.
Exclude part of the 'Cache-Control:' header. This must be done before session_start() is
called.
<?
ini_set('session.cache_limiter', '');
// the following 3 lines are what would have been sent if session.cache_limiter was
'nocache'
header('Expires: Thu, 19 Nov 1981 08:52:00 GMT');
//header('Cache-Control: no-store, no-cache, must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0');
header('Cache-Control: must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0');
header('Pragma: no-cache');
session_start();
?>
Also, I found it very useful to install and use the LiveHTTPHeaders plugin for Mozilla:
http://livehttpheaders.mozdev.org/
Hope I could help someone!
