The documentation is a little deceptive here. The option argument is listed as having type
"string", but this is not correct. The actual argument should be a constant (ie, a string
WITHOUT quotes). So...
curl_setopt($c, CURLOPT_VERBOSE, 1);
works, while
curl_setopt($c, "CURLOPT_VERBOSE", 1);
will silently fail, and you will scratch your head and wonder why your server is ignoring your
instructions...
