I just wanted to point somthing out for thoughs of you trying to save time, and write error free code. Assigning-by-reference is a great tool for saving time, but in certain situations (especially when passing into functions) can cause aliasing problems. Also, it is a good idea to use assign by value when assinging smaller values, since it will probably cost more time to dereference when you try to use the variable. Basically what I am saying is, you probably only want to assign-by-reference if you are assigning it to a large amout of information, and you understand the aliasing problems and how to spot them. ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/language.variables.php Edit -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=edit+47216 Delete -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+47216&report=yes Reason: bad code -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+47216&report=yes&reason=bad+code Reason: spam -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+47216&report=yes&reason=spam Reason: useless example -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+47216&report=yes&reason=useless+example Reason: contains commercial links -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+47216&report=yes&reason=contains+commercial+links Reason: useless note -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+47216&report=yes&reason=useless+note Reject -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=reject+47216&report=yes Search -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
