I just wanted to point somthing out for thoughs of you trying to save time, and write error free
code.
Assigning-by-reference is a great tool for saving time, but in certain situations (especially when
passing into functions) can cause aliasing problems. Also, it is a good idea to use assign by value
when assinging smaller values, since it will probably cost more time to dereference when you try to
use the variable.
Basically what I am saying is, you probably only want to assign-by-reference if you are assigning it
to a large amout of information, and you understand the aliasing problems and how to spot them.
