If you are using the latest xampp:here is a method of running your mysqli_ext.
1)locate the dir \apachefriends\xampp\php
2)look for the file name:libmysqli.dll(1mb size)
3)copy the file into the php extensions folder and rename it
to 'php_mysqli.dll'
4)locate the dir apachefriends\xampp\apache\bin
5)locate the php.ini file and open it
find "Dynamic Extensions"
and then add this line on the extension list
"extension=php_mysqli.dll" then save
6)test the extension by running this script
<?
$db = mysqli_connect('localhost','root','password','database
name');
if (!$db) {
printf('cannot connect',mysqli_connect_error());
exit;
}else{
echo "connected to db ";
exit;
}
?>
