I had trouble getting HTML mail sent through Exchange and read by Outlook 2002 to render. It always
appeared as plain text. Finally I got this to work correctly:

$headers = 'MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1
';
?>
with the line breaks exactly as shown. Both '\r\n' and '\n' were included in
the email source without being escaped. Not sure what combination of line breaks it was expecting.
They both worked fine in the message string.
