Note Submitter: soletan at toxa dot de ---- Well, the page above either should be changed to reflect reality or simply omit any information on how to install Ming ... since the steps explained here are very similar to those included with the archive I guess even the developer didn't encounter any trouble in compiling or just ignored them. As Ming is not _my_ piece of software I'm obviously not that much familiar just like with PHP's internal extension system. So it's a bit harder to compile. (as of 03beta1 and PHP 5.0.3) 'make install' fails in current version since the library's name doesn't match expected value defined in Rules.mak. So you have to rename the library manually to be tailed with current version tag. buildconf wants option "--force". Just pass it, of course. And after that compiling succeeds up to link stage of PHP's CLI. Well, guess Ming is not desired for CLI version this often. So IF there are any people involved in developing this library (as stated to be an advantage above) then I would appreciate to have them adapting their PHP extension source to more contemporary PHP File I/O API, as there seems to be no php_file_le_fopen() in PHP anymore and thus the whole compilation thing fails. It was like this one year ago already and guess nothing has changed since then. Most apparently instant solution is to comment out those methods in sources that use deprecated or missing references ... and then hope everything keeps up and running.
