IMAGETYPE_TIFF_II is for Intel byte order
IMAGETYPE_TIFF_MM is for Motorola byte order
I would hazard a guess that all the functions that work with TIFF files work just fine either way,
but you might need to know this if you intended to dig into the TIFF file with your own PHP code.
