I work for a company that literally took nearly every line of PHP source code and stripped it of
functionality we didn't need. We have also built it core functionality for each specific web
application. Many of our applications experience 1M+ hits per hour. Before PHP we had to develop
our own backend processing from scratch. The possibilities of PHP are near limitless and the
development cost which has been deffered to the Open Source community is priceless.
