When trying to compile PHP 4 with Oracle 8.1.6 support on a SuSE 7.0 system, make sure that you have
added the following line to your /sbin/init.d/apache Skript, or you will get many many segmentation
faults:
LD_PRELOAD=libclntsh.so.8.0
EXPORT LD_PRELOAD
Someone posted here a note that this is also required for RedHat 6.2. I can confirm this, both for
RedHat and Suse (7.0).
