Note that the results of REMOTE_ADDR can be vary depending on the browser! My development machine, is a Mac OS 10.2.8 client machine networked to a small LAN. Thus my IP address is the dynamically assigned: 10.0.1.2 while "localhost" is 127.0.0.1. Test script: <?php echo $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']; ?> Output using Firefox 1.0.6, Netscape 7.2, Safari 1.0.3: 127.0.0.1 Output using Internet Explorer 5.2.2: 10.0.1.2 Why is PHP browser-specific for server-related variables? I don't know. ---- Manual Page -- http://www.php.net/manual/en/function.getenv.php Edit -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=edit+55801 Delete: added to the manual -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+55801&report=yes&reason=added+to+the+manual Delete: bad code -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+55801&report=yes&reason=bad+code Delete: spam -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+55801&report=yes&reason=spam Delete: useless -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+55801&report=yes&reason=useless Delete: non-english -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+55801&report=yes&reason=non-english Delete: other reasons -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=delete+55801&report=yes Reject -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php?action=reject+55801&report=yes Search -- http://master.php.net/manage/user-notes.php
